Some people watch you build something. Others pick up a hammer and build it with you. Ghassan — you're the second kind. When this was still just a belief in my head, you backed it — not from the sidelines, but with your name and your courage right next to mine. You backed it because you backed me. I'll never forget that.
And Alicia — none of this would feel the way it feels without you. Fifteen years building a life with him, and somewhere in there you helped build this too, in a hundred quiet ways, never once asking for the credit.
And here's what I come back to most. Ten years ago, Liyana and David became friends — and that is the reason our families ever found each other at all. So when it came time to name what we were building, there was only ever one answer: DALVE — David, Adam, Liyana Ventures. Our children's names, woven into the foundation of everything we create.
So this year — your 50th, and fifteen years of you and Alicia — I didn't want to give you a thing. This is the gift of life. The VYONIC journey.
You two already live it — the gym, the walks, the discipline. Ghassan, I've watched you rebuild your body and your mind, and brother — it shows. You look strong. You look healthy. You look like a man walking into his next fifty with everything to play for. (And yes — I know you love hearing it. You've earned every word.)
I also know what this year took from you. Losing your father is its own kind of weight — I've carried it twice in four years now, both my parents gone. But it taught me the thing that matters most: time doesn't come back, health is borrowed, and we honor the ones who made us by living fully and carrying their name forward, heads high. That is what this gift is — not more years, but fuller ones. For both of us, and for David, Adam, and Liyana.
And because a gift like this should reach further than us: in your names, two orphaned children will be cared for this year — held, fed, and given someone in their corner.
